Data of 19k valid appointment available, 7k illegal: SSC in Supreme Court

• SSC accepts 7 thousand appointments were illegal
• Claims it has data available for 19 thousand eligible recruitment
• Supreme Court is hearing the matter today

Staff Selection Commission finally accepts that 7 thousand recruitments were illegal and they have data of 19 thousand recruitments. 19 thousand job seekers are eligible and their appointment data is available.

During the hearing on Tuesday, the SSC said that the number of eligible job seekers is 19,000,  claiming that they were appointed according to the merit list. Besides, they told the Supreme Court that 7,000 people have been recruited illegally. SSC gave this information during the hearing about cancellation of about 26 thousand jobs.

Earlier, the SSC submitted an affidavit three times to the Calcutta High Court and said that 5,250 people were ineligible. The Supreme Court said today that the number of unqualified job recipients is 7 thousand. 

The Supreme Court on Monday extended its earlier order and asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) not to take any coercive action till May 7 (Tuesday) and continued its stay of the CBI probe against West Bengal government officers.

The court is hearing the matter today.
